THE MORE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS IS A SET OF DIRECTIONS FOR MAINTAINING THE ENGINE, AS SUCH IT IS SIMILAR TO THE OVERHAUL MANUAL, THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL, AND THE SERVICE BULLETINS, ETC.

THE MORE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS USE THE P&WC MAINTENANCE MANUAL AS A FOUNDATION AND THEN ADD SEVERAL ADDITIONAL INSPECTION METHODS:

PERIODIC BORESCOPE INSPECTION OF THE HOT SECTION, PERIODIC INSPECTION OF THE COMPRESSOR AND EXHAUST DUCT AREAS, PERIODIC POWER PLANT-ADJUSTMENT TEST (TO MONITOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE), PERIODIC SPECTROMETRIC OIL ANALYSIS, PERIODIC OIL FILTER DEBRIS ANALYSIS, PERIODIC VIBRATION ANALYSIS, AND PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.

THE MORE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS PROVIDE AN AGGRESSIVE INSPECTION SYSTEM. THE PURPOSE OF THIS AGGRESSIVE INSPECTION SYSTEM IS TO FIND PROBLEMS IN THEIR EARLY STAGES, AND THEN HAVING FOUND THESE PROBLEMS TO CORRECT THEM PROMPTLY. EARLY CORRECTION OF ENGINE PROBLEMS WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASE IN THE ENGINE OVERHAUL INTERVAL AND LONG TERM COST SAVINGS TO THE OPERATOR.

WHEN FACED WITH THE OVERHAUL COSTS TODAY, THERE ARE FOUR CHOICES AN AIRCRAFT OWNER MAY CHOOSE FROM:

1. OVERHAUL ENGINE(S) AT THE P&WC RECOMMENDED HOURS.

2. ASK FOR A RECOMMENDATION TO EXTEND TBO FROM P&WC.

3. DEVELOP YOUR OWN MAINTENANCE PROGRAM, ALONG WITH THE SUBSTANTIATION FOR THAT PROGRAM AND SUBMIT BOTH OF THEM TO YOUR FAA FSDO FOR APPROVAL.

4. USE THE FAA APPROVED MORE STC AND EXTEND TBO safely and legally.
